• Tribute to the Glorious Days: Through the lens of Art and history.

• New Pop-Art Culture: Celebrate the past with the new edition of 80’s & 90’s era

• Dynamic Design: All about Fast, Forward & Futuristic.

(Something Decadent)

(A Way of POP)

(Minimal Mobility)

The event was full of press and fashionistas where Polpat Asavaprapha from ASAVA, Nut Mungkung of Kloset and Phumisak Thienprasit of Painkiller had brought up the notion of up and coming trends for A/W2013. Contents were as follows:-

Global trends are inspired by significant features from each substantial era since ancient to future. Key trends can be categorized in 3 terms:-
• Tribute to the Glorious Days: Through the lens of art and history
Giving priority to those golden ages via art, history and culture.
• New Pop-Art Culture: Celebrate the past with the new edition of 80’s and 90’s era
The reoccurrence of Pop Culture (from 1980-1990) in which the style was modified to fit with the current world.
• Dynamic Design: All about Fast, Forward & Futuristic
New design that accent on versatility, agility and harmony with futuristic lifestyle

All Thai designers together have, distinctively, put a sense of global trends into their own design which can be classified into 3 major trends:-
• Something Decadent
Excessive embellishment with the selection of dazzling materials such as brocade, metallic laces, gold fabrics, velvet textiles and also Renaissance prints reflect those prosperous times back in the past.
The captivating point is that these sumptuous textiles were believed to be worn only in the evening but currently, these can be worn during the day, for example, wearers can pair up golden jacket with golden pants or find a golden dress to endorse their own looks.

• A way of POP
The reoccurrence of Pop Culture—the beauty from the 80’s and 90’s, is the recovering time after the economic failure. Every single thing is full of live and enjoyment even fashion and accessories design that are emphasized on bright colors. Printing patterns encompass modern comic and graphic novels such as the painting of Roy Lichtensein—Pop Impressionism artist of that time or fantasy pattern like candy or animal prints in which wearers can wear print on print for a more radical look.

• Minimal Mobility
Aesthetic Theory of minimalism responds modern lifestyle which requires versatility, agility, vigor and convenience. Apparel and accessories design for this trend will emphasize on clear graphic lines in sport style. And, there will be some modification on a silhouette such as flare pants with special pattern at the edge of pants or wider legs.

They also demonstrate ‘Tips for A/W Fashion selection for male and female’

“Oversized is the most substantial silhouette for this season. And, clean lines cutting which highlights bodyline of wearers. Convey more seductive appearance with short skirt and a new volume dress that has greater length than typical one.”

Color trends can be categorized into 4 types:

• Nude and Neutral
The classy natural tone that can blend in with any shade of color; for example, ivory, nude, light grey, eggshell, beige and nude pink
• Black and White
The most popular tones are total white or total black. It can either be a solid color or a pattern. Blocking of these two colors or two different materials are also included.
• Party Colors
Pastel palettes such as pastel pink, mint, sky blue, lavender and ester to represent the celebration.
• Pop Culture Palette
Using bright colors from 80’s and 90’s

Candy Colors and bright colors has opened up the new approach to A/W fashion trends which normally involve with earnest colors like red wine, brown and dark green.

After the speech, attendees can preview new collections of each fashion designer while enjoying Absolut Vodka drinks that are specially invented for the event. All drinks are inspired by local fashion trends which are
‘Absolute pop’ from the concept ‘A Way of POP’, mixing Absolute Vanilla with lemonade and decorate with Jelly Bean

‘Absolut Decodent’

‘Absolute You’ derives from the campaign “You Are What You Wear.” It consists of Absolute Vodka and Ginger ale. What make this glass distinctive is that attendees can choose decorative fruits on their own.

The collaboration of 15 Thai multi-brands has strengthened Bangkok Fashion Society. It is believe to be a good direction to push Thailand forward as a Center of Fashion City. However, key to success is Thai people who have to help supporting Thai designers, letting them show off their design abilities to the whole wide world.
