Over the years of endless development and growth, the automotive industry has become the driving force of the industrial society. From the world’s first 4-wheel-drive, which was fabricated in 1900, to today’s futuristic cars, which are recognized as the most convenient means of transportation and built with state-of-the-art technologies and designs, the automotive industry of the 21st century is making countless efforts in researching and developing environment-friendly vehicles, which are aware of the environment and of the happiness and dreams of the people who live in it, multiple purpose fusion cars, and a wide range of concept cars.  The growth of the automotive industry presents to us unlimited possibilities and a promising future.

History of the Seoul Motor Show
• As one of the world’s major automobile manufacturing countries producing over 1 million units a year, the Republic of Korea opened the 1st Seoul Motor Show in May of 1995. Since its first grand opening, the Seoul Motor Show 2009 now celebrates its 14th anniversary. The biennial Seoul Motor Show is the only international motor show in Korea that is certified by OICA (the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’ Automobiles). With its development and growth along with the Korean automotive industry, the Seoul Motor Show has gained firm grounds as one of the major general motor shows with a wide range of exhibitors from around the globe, including domestic and foreign automobile manufacturers and auto parts and commodities manufacturers. 
• Especially, the Seoul Motor Show 2007 had 188 prominent companies (120 Domestic, 68 Foreign) from 11 countries around the globe, including the U.S., Japan, Germany, participating in the show. It exclusively represented its most extravagant and dynamic aspects as the leader of the global automobile market by successfully performing a variety of performing arts and visitors’ participating events. A total of approximately 1 million visited the exhibition show for 11 days, providing the fundamentals for the Seoul Motor Show to position itself as the World top 5 Motor Shows in terms of its’ extent and management.
• The Seoul Motor Show 2007 has produced economic effects worth approximately 800 billion won by creating new demands, contributing to the growth of relative industries employment, tourism, transportation and regional economy. Also, the show achieved exportation-related business negotiations worth over 1 billion dollars by attracting 10,000 foreign buyers from China, Japan, U.S., and Russia. In addition, with worldly known auto parts and commodities companies exhibiting various systematic high future technology and environment-friendly products, the Seoul Motor Show is reputed as the concentration of high-tech automotive commodities and a great contribution to not only the Korean automotive industry but also the world economy. 
• Since 2002, the Korean government selected the Seoul Motor Show as one of the most prominent exhibitions in Korea. With the Seoul Motor Show 2009, we are expecting to contribute to the development of the Korean automotive industry and to open the age of 17 million car ownerships, thereby ensuring an active automotive culture
