คุณสุขบีร์  ซิงห์  เศรษฐี  หรือ ที่ใคร ๆมักเรียกว่าคุณแซมเป็นบุคคลผู้เกิดมาพร้อมกับพรสวรรค์  คุณแซมจบการศึกษาด้านเภสัชกร  แต่มันไม่ใช่สิ่งที่ทำให้เขารู้สึกมีความสุข  ความต้องการของเขาที่มีอยู่เสมอมาคือ  การได้ผสมสี  ออกแบบ  สร้างสรรค์ผลงานที่มีความสวยงาม  นั่นจึงเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของร้านสุวรรณี บาย แซม  ร้านนี้เป็นร้านใหม่ที่นำเสนอชุดออกงานที่หรูหรา  ชุดราตรี  และชุดแต่งงานที่งามสง่าสำหรับผู้หญิงในยุคปัจจุบัน  คุณแซม เป็นผู้ออกแบบให้กับเสื้อผ้ายี่ห้อชั้นนำระดับนานาชาติมานานกว่า ๒๕ ปีแล้ว  และยังได้สร้างสรรค์ผลงานให้เราเห็นอย่างต่อเนื่อง   คุณแซมได้เกิดและเติบโตในประเทศไทย  มีความรักและความผูกพันกับทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างที่เป็นไทย   การออกแบบได้สะท้อนตัวตน  ความรู้สึกของเขาออกมา    ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการใช้ผ้าไหมไทย   ผ้าฝ้ายย้อมคราม   หรือผ้าทอมืออื่น ๆ ผสมผสานเข้ากับเครื่องประดับที่ล้ำค่า  เป็นเอกลักษณ์ และมีความสวยงามแบบตะวันออก

ศิลปะการทอผ้าไหมไทยนั้นนับวันยิ่งจะสูญหายไป  และไม่มีการใช้ผ้าไหมไทยมาสวมใส่กันนักในยุคปัจจุบัน   การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานของคุณแซมนั้น มีมุมมองที่ดีหลายอย่างคือ ให้หมู่บ้านต่าง ๆมีงานทอมือผ้าอย่างสม่ำเสมอ    นำชื่อเสียงด้านความงามของผ้ามาสู่ประเทศไทย    มีการนำผ้าไทยไปผสมผสานกับการเย็บปักถักร้อยและเครื่องประดับตกแต่งของอินเดีย   และปรับเปลี่ยนให้เข้ากับการออกแบบของชาวตะวันตกในปัจจุบัน

ชื่อของร้านได้แรงบันดาลใจมาจากชื่อของลูกสาว “สุวรรณี”    ซึ่งเป็นผู้สร้างสรรค์ และกรรมการผู้จัดการผู้อยู่เบื้องหลัง   เป็นผู้ออกแบบแฟชั่น   และเป็นช่างแต่งหน้าด้วยตัวเธอเอง  ทั้งหมดนี้เป็นที่มาของสองคน-คุณพ่อและลูกสาว ผู้ซึ่งร่วมกันสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน และรักการออกแบบแฟชั่นอย่างสมบูรณ์แบบ

Singh Sethi  or Sam as most call him is someone you would say has born talent. A pharmacist by education, it wasn’t something that gave him much joy. His passion had always been in putting together colors, details, and creating beauty hence the birth of  Suwannee by Sam. This is a new and fresh couture line with exclusive formal, evening party and wedding attire, for the very fashionable women of today.  Sam Sethi, being a designer for  international brands for the last 25 years with vast experience, his creativity sees no end.  Sam being born and brought up here in Thailand loves and always has had a unique bond to anything and everything Thai. The couture line is a reflection of him in every sense. The use of Thai Silks, Indigo Dyed Cotton, other exotic fabrics, intricate hand embroidery, embellishments and extravagant accessories brings together, tradition, fusion, and beauty of the East.

Weaving of Thai Silk is a dying art and a fabric that isn’t used much in the modern day to make outfits that the new generation would wear. Creating this line has helped Sam cover various aspects. Giving weaving villages constant work, highlighting the beauty of Thailand, fusing it  with the magnificence of India’s embroidery and embellishments, then adapting it into the Western designs of today.

The name of the brand was inspired by his daughter Suwannee, who is the creative/managing director behind the brand.  Being a fashion designer, stylist and makeup artist herself, this was the perfect scenario for both father and daughter to explore their creativity and love for fashion together.
